English as a New Language (ENL)
Mission Statement:
The Minisink Valley School District is committed to empowering multilingual learners in kindergarten through 12th grade—including newcomers, former ELLs, students with disabilities, and students with interrupted or limited formal education — to reach their fullest academic potential.
Through equitable, evidence-based language instruction, individualized supports and culturally responsive, inclusive practices, the district fosters strong linguistic development, foundational skills, and social-emotional well-being. By providing targeted interventions, ongoing progress monitoring, and enriching learning opportunities, the district ensures that all multilingual learners meet and exceed New York State learning standards. We believe that all teachers are teachers of ELLs/MLLs.
Our mission is to nurture confident, independent, and culturally competent lifelong learners who are prepared to thrive academically and contribute responsibly as members of our school community and the world beyond.
