Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is the SchoolTool Parent Portal?
A. SchoolTool Parent Portal is a Web-based access portal that allows parents/guardians to view information about their child’s educational program, and stay current on their son/daughter’s academic progress.

Q. Who can access the Parent Portal?
A. The Parent Portal may be accessed by parents/guardians of students in all grade levels and schools.

Q. How do I join the Parent Portal?
A. Complete the online enrollment form.

Q. Do I need any special software to access the Parent Portal?
A. No special software is required, only Internet access.

Q. What will I find once I log on?
A. Once on the portal, you will be able to see scheduling and attendance information for all of your child’s classes, and report cards for all grades. For most classes in grades 6-12, you will be able to see assignments and due dates, as well as grades on completed work. Plus, you can email teachers directly, via the Parent Portal.

Q. Will I be able to see all grades received on assignments?
A. Assignments listed on the Parent Portal may not reflect all the assignments for the quarter. Please remember that any grades reported on the portal are grades in progress. The only official grades are those on report cards sent home at the end of each quarter. In addition, not all teachers utilize the SchoolTool gradebook, therefore you may not have access to all your child’s grades in every class, via the portal. However, you can always reach out to your child’s teachers if you have questions about his/her academic progress and grades.

Q. What can I do if I see that my child has low assignment grades?
A. The best course of action is to contact your child’s teacher to discuss your concerns.

Q. Am I able to email a teacher while on the Parent Portal?
A. Yes. To email a teacher via the portal, simply click on the teacher’s name in the “Schedule” tab. An email interface will open, allowing you to email the teacher directly.

Q. I have children in multiple schools in the district. Do I need separate Parent Portal accounts for each child?
A. No. A parent can access information for multiple children, in the same or different schools, with one account.

Q. Who should I contact if I have questions about my child’s records as shown on the Parent Portal?
A. If you have any questions about the information you see on the portal, or about your child’s performance in general, please do not hesitate to contact his/her teacher or school counselor.

Q. My child wants his/her own Parent Portal account. Can they apply for one?
A. Students in grades 6-12 are able to log in to Parent Portal using their school network login. They do not need to apply for a separate account. If they are unable to log in, please have them contact their school’s counseling office for assistance.
