1 p.m. update:

.We’re happy to report that the New York State Department of Education (NYSED) has advised us that this morning’s secure browser issues are resolved.  This issue was a statewide issue and not a district issue.

Middle School

  •  Middle School testing will not resume today and will resume testing tomorrow, April 9, with the remainder of the ELA Day 1 assessment. The assessment work that students already completed remains in place; students will not need to start from the beginning.

  • Because students started their assessments using their Chromebooks at the time the issues developed this morning, NYSED has required us to collect all student Chromebooks and securely store them until testing resumes tomorrow.  However, students who did not participate in this morning’s assessment or arrived at school late will still have their Chromebooks.

  • Students who participated in this morning’s assessment are continuing the rest of the instructional day without them and will not bring them home this afternoon.  Any assigned homework will not require the use of a Chromebook today, April 8.

  • ELA Day 2 testing will take place on Thursday, April 10.   The existing Math assessment dates remain unchanged.

Otisville Elementary

  •  Otisville testing will not take place today, April 8.

  • Tomorrow, Wednesday, April 9, the ELA Day 2 assessments planned for today will resume.

  • The existing Math assessment dates remain unchanged.

Today’s issues are rarely encountered.  We are grateful to our students and you for your understanding, flexibility and graciousness.

Thank you.

9:30 a.m.

For your awareness, due to secure browser issues tied to today’s Grade 3 to 8 state assessments at the Middle School and Otisville Elementary, all tests scheduled for today will not take place.

This issue is a statewide issue and not a district issue. The New York State Department of Education is investigating what the issues are and will provide further guidance and next steps once these issues are identified and corrected.

We have told our students that testing is paused until further notice. We will let them and you know what these rescheduled dates are once the New York State Department of Education provides us with updated information

We have apologized to our students for this unanticipated change in schedule and equally apologize to you. We appreciate our students’ resiliency and your understanding and good grace.
