Congratulations to pentathlete Ella Michelitch and the girls and boys 4x400 relay squads of Kaleigh Murphy, Chloe Beck, Zoey Terpak and Ferrah Hill; and Angel Mendez, Benjamin Spevak, Robert LaBarbera and Samuel Anderson, who are Section IX Class A champions!
Ella Michelitch won the girls' pentathlon, compiling a meet-record 3,180 points and outdistancing her nearest competitor by 1,000 points.
The girls 4x400 squad of Kaleigh Murphy, Chloe Beck, Zoey Terpak and Ferrah Hill won with a 3:57.88 time and will enter the State Qualifier as the top seed.
The boys 4x400 meter relay squad of Angel Mendez, Benjamin Spevak, Robert LaBarbera and Samuel Anderson won with a 3:19.30 time.
Runners-up were led by LaBarbera (:49.85) and Hill (:57.83), who placed second in the competitive boys and girls 400 meter dash. Delila Kronimus bettered her own program record to finish second in the girls pole vault (12' 0"). Ryan Capo ran a huge personal best and #5 time in program history to capture second place in the boys 3,000 meter steeplechase.
Chloe Beck and Carter Rossi won third place in the girls long jump (16' 9") and the boys 1,600 meter run (4:32.42), respectively.
Minisink Valley will conclude its local schedule at the Warwick Valley Fast Times Relays on June 2, before vying for berths at the NYSPHSAA State and Federation Championships at Middletown High School, at the Section IX State Qualifier on June 4 and 5.
