Seniors Riley Boice and Christopher Rickard were among the honorees representing 29 school districts and schools who were recognized at the 2025 Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association (OCIA) Senior Scholar Athlete Breakfast, held June 12 at the Country Club at Otterkill.
“Riley and Christopher have distinguished themselves with their athletic achievements, and they have paired those achievements with their academic accomplishments,” said Superintendent Brian Monahan. “We believe they're great role models to show others how it's possible to balance both and be successful in both. We look forward to their continued achievements and success."
About Riley
Riley, who ranked third in the Class of 2025, is a member of the Varsity Girls Lacrosse team. She was a team captain for four years, and in 2012, 2023 and 2024, the team was Section IX champions. The team was a NYSPHSAA regional finalist in 2023. Riley was named to the All-Section First Team in 2022, 2023 and 2024 and was also named Varsity Lacrosse Midfield MVP.
Off the field, she was class president for four years; is a member of the National Honor Society and Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA); the Varsity Club, Mat Maids and has been a teacher intern. She's also been a volunteer coach with Minisink Youth Lacrosse, a lacrosse camp volunteer counselor and coordinated a Montefiore Children's Hospital lacrosse clinic. She will play Division I lacrosse at Marist University and study biology/biomedical sciences
About Christopher
Christopher, the Class of 2025 valedictorian, is a member of the Varsity Boys Golf and Boys Swimming teams. He was a Boys Golf Section IX 2023 runner-up; two-time Boys Golf Qualifier; a team captain for both the boys golf and swim teams; and a Student Athlete Leadership Summit participant.
Off the golf course and out of the pool, Christopher is a member of the National Honor Society, the Varsity and Technology clubs, and received grade level excellence awards in his sophomore and junior years. He volunteered for the high school's annual Senior Citizens Dinner, the Elementary School's Harlem Wizards basketball game and Monster Dash fundraisers, the Varsity Swim and Diving Program's "Kids Night Out" and Wreaths Across America Program. He will study mechanical engineering at Penn State University.
