Minisink Valley won four individual Section IX Class A titles and two Section IX Class A team titles at the Section IX Indoor Track Championships, held Jan. 31 at West Point. Congratulations to all!
Individual titles:
Ella Michelitch earned medals in three events:
--- High Jump, 5' 10.5", setting a Section IX and Minisink Valley program record
--- Long Jump, 18' 0.75"
--- Shot Put, 31' 9.75"
Robert LaBarbera won the 600 meter run with a 1:22.88 finish.
Team titles:
The girls 4x200 meter relay team of Chloe Beck, Ferrah Hill, Kessler Hirsch and Salma Samdaoui won with a 1:47.75 finish.
The boys 4x400 meter relay team of Robert LaBarbera, Angel Mendez, Stetson Terpak and Maximillian Wickrath won with a 3:28.66 finish.
Other remarkable achievements include Delila Kronimus (runner-up in the pole vault) and Kessler Hirsch (third place in the 55 meter dash), with Chloe Beck (fourth place, long jump and sixth place, high jump) and the 4x400 meter relay team of Emma Berkshire, Julia Berkshire, Lyla LaBarbera and Danica Martinez earning fifth place.
Also: Maximillian Wickrath also earned a third-place podium finish in the 55 meter dash (:6.57); and Santiago Martinez finished sixth in the 3,200 meter run with a 10:12.03 finish.
The girls team compiled 60.5 points to finish in third-place overall; and the boys team finished in ninth-place overall!
