Dear Minisink Valley School community:

As a follow-up to our March 4 note to the community, I’m writing to share several updates resulting from last evening’s regular Board of Education meeting.

First, the Board elected new officers for the coming year. Anthony Monaco was elected President of the Board of Education, and Ruth Luis was elected Vice President. Both bring valuable experience and a deep understanding of Board operations. They are strongly committed to the success of our students and to supporting the dedicated faculty and staff who make our academic, co-curricular, and athletic programs possible. Most importantly, they share a strong commitment to the mission of the Minisink Valley School District. Please join me in congratulating Mr. Monaco and Ms. Luis and wishing them great success in their new leadership roles.

Secondly, the seat vacated by the resignation of William Cooper will remain open until the upcoming election so voters may determine who will fill the position.

As a result, during the May 19 Board of Education election, voters will be asked to elect four members to the Board:

  • One member, who will serve the remainder of the unexpired term created by Mr. Cooper’s resignation, beginning on or about May 19, 2026 and continuing through June 30, 2028.

  • Three members, who will serve three-year terms from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2029, filling the seats currently held by Shawn Cahill, Ruth A. Luis, and Patricia M. Reynolds whose terms are expiring.

We are grateful for your continued support as we work together to provide the highest quality education for the children of our community.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Brian C. Monahan
Superintendent
