Seniors Patrick Frawley and Brady Witkoski are gold medalists and state champions after winning first place honors in welding fabrication at the SkillsUSA New York State Conference, held this past weekend in Syracuse.
Patrick and Brady were part of a three-person welding fabrication team which included Cameron Brown of Monroe-Woodbury to earn gold medals.

The SkillsUSA Welding Fabrication competition requires a team of three students to use their welding and fabrication skills to build a designed project from the provided material. The project is constructed by the competitors based on provided prints. Teams should be skilled in these welding and cutting processes: SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW OFC and PAC. Students are also required to be proficient in using common tools of a workshop.
They were part of a 46-student delegation representing the SkillsUSA Orange-Ulster BOCES Chapter. More than 100 schools from across New York showcased their skills in career and technical education pathways ranging from welding fabrication to culinary arts and digital cinema.
The Orange-Ulster BOCES chapter had eight students earn medals in welding fabrication, medical terminology, nail care, carpentry, early childhood education and medical assisting.
