Minisink Valley School District voters approved the proposed $130,275,178 school budget for the 2026-27 school year in a 1,043 to 684 vote.
The results showed 60.39% of voters approved the budget.
The proposed 2026-27 budget preserves all current academic, co-curricular and athletic opportunities for all students. It also includes the purchase of 10 new school buses: five, 72-passenger buses; four, 30-passenger wheelchair buses and one suburban. The cost of these buses is $1,596,251. After estimated total state aid is applied, the net cost is $399,063.
The approved budget has a 2.85% tax levy increase. This increase in the tax levy – total amount of money to be raised through property taxes – is within the New York State tax cap requirement and needed a simple majority to be approved.
“We are grateful for the community’s support in approving a fiscally responsible budget that reflects our commitment to academic excellence and the careful stewardship of taxpayer resources,” said Superintendent Brian Monahan. “This partnership allows us to continue providing exceptional educational, co-curricular and athletic opportunities for our students. Thank you for your continued trust, support, and commitment to our schools.”
