Congratulations to the 11 high school students who have earned the New York State Department of Education's Seal of Biliteracy!
The Seal of Biliteracy is a special recognition awarded to high school students who demonstrate a high level of proficiency in English and at least one additional language.
The seal encourages students to develop strong language and communication skills while recognizing the value of multilingualism in school, careers, and society. Students earn the Seal of Biliteracy by meeting specific criteria that show they can read, write, speak, and understand both languages at an advanced level. The seal is placed on a student's diploma and transcript to highlight their achievement and readiness to communicate in a diverse and global community. The New York State Seal of Biliteracy was launched in 2012 to recognize high school students who demonstrate proficiency in English and at least one additional language.
