STILL UNDEFEATED: 7-0 --- and we are the 2025 CLASS A, DIVISION I CHAMPS!

The Varsity Football team continues to play extremely impressive ball, beating Warwick this past Friday night 37-13!

“Overall, I’m happy with the way we played on offense and defense,” said Varsity Coach Kevin Gallagher. “Warwick had a good game plan and they played us very tough in the first half. The second half --- we really played well with only one penalty and very few mistakes.”

Coach Gallagher also reported: “Zach Filip had another great game scoring five touchdowns while rushing for 150 yards. Robbie played another good game completing 6-8 passes for 94 yards. Max and Stetson came up with some big catches to keep the chains moving. Our defense only gave up 137 yards the whole game and stopped them inside the 10 two times.”

This Friday’s game is against undefeated Port Jervis, which also has a 7-0 record.

“We beat Port last year 28-14 and they went on to win the State Championship in Class B,” added Coach Gallagher. “We’re expecting a great game. They are very good offensively so we will have to be ready.”

This Friday’s game is also the district’s PINK OUT, where everyone is invited to wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness, as well as football/cheer Senior Night.

NOTE: The team's win over Warwick has earned it a Bye Week for the first found of the Section IX playoffs, so there's NO GAME on Oct. 31. Minisink Valley will host the Nov. 7 game with its opponent TBD.

Congratulations to the senior members of the Varsity Volleyball team who were honored for their many contributions to the team during their recent Senior Night! We wish you all the best!

--- Natalie Barina, a three year varsity player, who has been a middle blocker and hitter her entire high school volleyball career. Although once very gentle, her senior year she found the fierceness to match her height. Her quiet leadership and kindness unknowingly make her a role model for those around her.

--- Joli Calcano, a two year varsity player who is a utility player who played as a defensive specialist her senior year but has also played as a setter and right side hitter. Her sunny demeanor brings smiles to everyone's face at just the right time.

--- Sophia Escobar, three year Varsity player, started her high school volleyball career as a middle blocker but successfully transitioned into an outside hitter for her Junior and Senior year. She is an 'all around' six rotation player that can play other positions if needed. Her consistency on the court has been essential to the success of the team.

--- Anhjela Jackson, a three year varsity player playing as a right side hitter and setter but has also played in the outside hitter position. She is an “all around” six rotation player and can play any position. She has great control of her sets and is a powerful hitter.

--- Ava Messina, a two year varsity player who is a right side hitter and setter. Her athleticism and drive allows her to play at a very high level. Her passion and dedication on the court is unmatched. She is a natural leader and is still hungry to learn everything there is to learn about the game.

ANOTHER AMAZING WIN and VARSITY FOOTBALL REMAINS UNDEFEATED after a big 42-12 win over Our Lady of Lourdes this past Friday night!

"Max Wickwrath played a great game on both sides of the ball," said Varsity Coach Kevin Gallagher. "On offense Max had four catches for 95 yards and a touchdown and on defense he had two interceptions and one of them was for a touchdown. Others that scored for us were Robbie LaBarbara who had nine carries for 139 yards and one touchdown, Zach Filip rushed 15 times for 71 yards and two touchdowns and Stetson Terpak scored on a 37 yard pass from Robbie. I thought we played pretty well overall and really put it together in the second half. Our defense really stepped up against a funky offense and really kept us in the lead until our offense got it going."

WHAT A BATTLE...AND WHAT GREAT SPORTSMANSHIP!
Girls Soccer Modified Coach Dave LeBlanc reports the team went toe-to-toe with Goshen and fought to a hard-earned 0-0 tie after a full game of nonstop effort yesterday, Sept. 30.

“Both teams left it all on the field — and what’s better after a match like that than coming together for a big group photo?” he said. “I’m proud of how our players competed and the heart they showed today. The season is just getting started, and the potential on this field is huge.”

He’s also proud to announce this season’s team captains: Evie Mead, Jeanell Martinez, Salma Mechkour and Rossella Ricca!

WE’RE NOW 4-0!
Congratulations to the Varsity Football team on its continued undefeated season after its 21-18 win against Washingtonville at Friday’s Homecoming game! Take a look!

“I was happy with the win,” said Varsity Coach Kevin Gallagher. “We got tough when we had to, but we need to keep getting better. Washingtonville was 3-0 coming in and they are a well-coached, hard-nosed team so it was a good test. Max Wickwrath and Zach Filip made some big plays on the offense and our defense came up big when we had to, especially Jayden Pressley who had six sacks.”

FIRST HOME GAME OF THE SEASON....AND WHAT A GAME IT WAS!
WE'RE NOW 3-0 after a resounding 42-13 win over Newburgh this past Friday!

"We had a great week of practice and we were ready," said Head Coach Kevin Gallagher. "We played a great game all around. Our guys played hard and we basically took it to them on offense, defense, and special teams."

Coach Gallagher added the team's defense set the tone when Zach Filip tackled the Newburgh quarterback in their end zone to take a 2-0 lead that really pumped up Minisink's offense pumped up.

"Our offensive line, Anthony Marasco, Liam Barry, Brady Witkowski, Nikko Juncaj, and Jayden Pressley, along with our tight end Jordan Mabra, and our hard back Chris Thorpe, dominated them up front and Zach and Robbie took it from there. Our defense held them to a total of 4 yards in the first half!"

NEXT UP: Friday night's HOMECOMING GAME against Washingtonville! BE THERE!

DID YOU KNOW that at the onset of each sports season, the Middle School brings all modified sports team members together for a frank discussion about behavioral and academic expectations? Teams gathered today, Sept. 17, for this important meeting.

For some students, this is the first time they are playing on a school sports team. For others, they have some experience. Regardless of whether it's their first time, or they're three season athletes, Principal Michael Larsen and Athletic Director Tim Bult spoke to students about the honor of wearing a Minisink Valley uniform and what expectations, roles and responsibilities come with that. Ask your modified sports student about this discussion and why it matters.

Teachable--- and coachable --- moments come in many different ways! Take a peek at the Girls Modified Soccer Team, which quickly completed practice yesterday, Sept. 9, so they could watch the Girls Junior Varsity Soccer game against Valley Central.
Not only were they there to watch and support the team, they were there to observe technique and playing styles as well as how the JV team works as a unit. The intent was to not only support the players and enjoy a game, but to take what they observed and apply those takeaways to their own team.

Preparing for soccer games also means hydrating, which is super important, as Girls Modified Soccer Coach Dave LeBlanc reminds us! There's also workout "work," which for this team included a plank challenge. A "plank" can refer to an isometric exercise that strengthens your core by holding a body-straight-line position on your forearms or hands and toes. Many, Coach LeBlanc reports, held this position for over seven minutes! Well-done to all!
