Minisink Valley School District voters approved the proposed $123,533,205 school budget for the 2025-26 school year in a 1,256 to 764 vote.
The results showed 62.18% percent of voters approved the budget.
The approved budget maintains all current student programs and services. The approved budget also allows the district to purchase five,72-passenger buses, two 42-passenger wheelchair buses; three wheelchair, 42-passenger buses; and three, 30-passenger wheelchair buses; along with two minivans.
The approved budget has a 2.79% tax levy increase. This increase in the tax levy – total amount of money to be raised through property taxes – is within the New York State tax cap requirement and needed a simple majority to be approved.
“We worked very hard to present a prudent budget which respects the use of taxpayer dollars,” said Superintendent Brian Monahan. “We are grateful to our community for their continued support of our rigorous education program along with our co-curricular and athletic opportunities. Thank you for your ongoing partnership and trust.”
Additionally, three Minisink Valley school district residents were elected to the Board of Education for three-year terms running July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2028.
