Congratulations to Boys Varsity Basketball Head Coach Matt Caputo, who is the recipient of the 2024 Orange County Basketball Officials Association’s (OCBOA) “Jim Taravella Award.”

The award honors and is in memory of Mr. Taravella, a Monroe-Woodbury Boys Varsity Basketball coach, who passed away unexpectedly on Dec. 13, 2006.

This award recognizes an Orange County  boys varsity basketball coach who exemplifies the coaching qualities that Coach Taravella possessed, including dedication, sportsmanship and compassion.

‘We are extremely proud for Coach Caputo for all of his dedicated work each basketball season,” said Athletic Director Tim Bult. “To be recognized by Orange County Basketball Officials Association on our home court is amazing, and Coach Caputo is a most worthy recipient.”  

Coach Caputo has been a Minisink Valley basketball coach for the past  17 years, coaching at the modified, junior varsity and varsity levels.  He’s been the boys varsity head basketball coach for the last eight  years.

The selection process is annually conducted by OCBOA varsity basketball officials.
