Dec. 1 statement on email sent to district and other entities statewide and nationally

For your information art

Minisink Valley school community:

We are aware of an email containing generic threats that was sent to many school districts, banks and places of worship in New York State and other parts of the country today. Minisink Valley is among those included in that email.

We immediately reached out to our law enforcement partners, who responded quickly. We are following their ongoing guidance. Our law enforcement partners have told us they believe the generic threats cited in this email are not credible and are merely intended to cause disruption. They mirror similar threats received by other entities in New York State and elsewhere in the past several weeks, which did not mention Minisink Valley.

It’s important to note the district has a very solid safety and security plan in place. We can assure you all students and staff are safe, continuing with their normal school day.  All afterschool activities are running as scheduled.

As part of that, we want to reinforce that we purposely do not discuss many aspects of how we keep our students and staff safe and secure. We appreciate your understanding and support.

Out of an abundance of caution, our law enforcement partners have an added presence at our campuses today.

Thank you.
