District expects to receive COVID-19 at-home testing kits from New York State to distribute to families

Dear Minisink Valley school community:

As you may be aware, Gov. Kathy Hochul recently announced her plans to send millions of COVID-19 testing kits to school districts statewide for parents/guardians to use for at-home testing.

At this time, we understand a yet-to-be-determined quantity of test kits will be sent to Orange-Ulster BOCES.  BOCES will then be counting out quantities for each school district.

However, please keep in mind we don’t yet know how many kits will be coming to us from the state or the timeframe for their arrival.

Currently, we have no further information on delivery to the district, though the complicated logistics of how we will distribute it to our families is being addressed.

We appreciate your patience and understanding.  I will reach out again once we learn more.

Please continue to follow all mask wearing, social distancing and hand washing protocols to maximize your family’s good health.

Sincerely,

Brian C. Monahan
Superintendent
