February Recess is here: A reminder about out-of-state travel and related quarantine requirements

Minisink Valley logoAttention Minisink Valley families:

With the upcoming  February break upon us, we want to remind you of some important New York State Department of Health quarantine requirements for anyone traveling to New York from a non-contiguous state:

This is important to stress: If you travel out-of-state during February break, your child(ren) may not be able to return to school until the required quarantine period has ended. Travelers may be able to “test out” of the mandatory quarantine; please refer to the New York State Department of Health website for more information.

Unlike the Thanksgiving and Holiday recess, there is no planned “pause” period of time where remote instruction would replace hybrid, in-person instruction.   This is because there is no recommendation for this from the Orange County Department of Health.

As a reminder, please wear a mask, follow social distancing guidelines and wash your hands to safeguard the health, wellbeing and safety of others:

We understand the desire to travel and/or be reunited with family and friends over the break. However, your continued help is necessary so that our schools can remain open for in-person instruction for as long as possible.

Please note: Additionally, Orange County still requires that any school employee or student MUST obtain a letter of clearance from their health care provider before returning to school/work.

Please reach out to your building principal with any questions you may have. Thank you for your attention to this important information.
