Dear Minisink Valley school community:

Last July, I presented plans for using American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) stimulus funds, which will provide important programs and services to our students and allow us to introduce valuable additions to the outstanding academic services we already provide. One of these programs is our new K-5 reading program.

We have finally been able to confirm a professional development date for our K-5 staff, where the focus of our work will be on our new reading program.  As a result, we will be modifying the school calendar and Friday, Oct. 29 will now be a half-day Superintendent Conference Day.

This will allow us to work with our K-5 staff while offering important professional development for our Grade 6-12 staff. We are advising you of this schedule change now so that you can make the necessary arrangements.

Please note:  Our elementary Halloween parades will still take place take place on Friday, Oct. 29; please expect to hear from your student’s school on details in the coming days.

Thank you for your understanding and attention to this important information.

Sincerely,

Brian C. Monahan
Superintendent
