Otisville Elementary’s recent “Great Otisville Read-A-Loud” was an outstanding opportunity to reinforce the importance of reading, with students being treated to guest readers visiting the school to read them some of their favorite books.

The many guest readers included State Assemblywoman Eileen Gunther, representatives from Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus’ office, Minisink Valley Superintendent Brian Monahan, high school librarian Dolores Lombardo, middle school librarian Maggie Spicehandler and “Andy Armadillo.”

Plus, as a further way of reinforcing the importance of technology awareness and proficiency, middle school students also read to their elementary counterparts via Google Hangout, a communication platform developed by Google which includes messaging, video chat and VOIP features.
