High School choirs earn top honors at Hersheypark’s ‘Music in the Parks Festival’

Congratulations to the High School choirs, which earned numerous first place awards and accolades at the June 3 “Music in the Parks Festival” at Hersheypark in Hershey, Pa., including the Chamber Choir being named “Best Overall Choir!”

  • Mixed Choir: First place and Superior rating
  • Women’s Choir: First place and Superior rating
  • Chamber Choir: First place, Superior rating and “Best Overall Choir”

Additionally,  Elizabeth Skalski of the Women’s and Chamber Choir, was awarded the “Outstanding Student Accompanist” medal.

In addition to the choirs’ accomplishments, the choirs also received the “Esprit de Corps” award.  This is a highly coveted award, and is given to the school who displays an exemplary attitude of positive support and outstanding personal behavior throughout the festival.  the choirsThe cornerstones of the award include a desire for excellence, personal integrity, quality character values, and a spirit of cooperation.

“We are so proud that our Choir students Choirs at Hershey Parkrepresented our district in this amazing way,” added Choir Director Danielle Cornacchio.

Sixteen ensembles representing New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Washington D.C. participated in the festival. Each presented three selections to adjudicators.
