“Arigatou gozaimasu” (Thank you) to middle school student Winnie Wei, who recently created Japanese language character translations for book genre labels in the Middle School library!

These translations join the Spanish and Mandarin Chinese translations book label genres created by students last year.

Creating multi-language labels has a big impact to further support an inclusive, kind, learning environment and cultural diversity awareness, explained librarian Maggie Spicehandler.

She also noted there’s an added bonus of giving students an opportunity to learn how to recognize  Japanese and Chinese characters and learn Spanish words.
