Minisink Valley Kiwanis members visited Minisink Valley Intermediate and Otisville Elementary schools for their annual delivery of dictionaries to both schools’  third-graders.

This annual gift of dictionaries is part of Kiwanis’ national program called “The Dictionary Project.” The project’s goal is to assist all students in becoming good writers, active readers, creative thinkers, and resourceful learners by providing them with their own personal dictionary.

The dictionaries are a gift to each student to use at school and at home for years to come. According to The Dictionary Project, educators see third-grade as the dividing line between learning to read and reading to learn, so they that’s why dictionaries are presented to third-graders.
