Minisink Valley Kiwanis members visited Otisville Elementary School for their annual delivery of dictionaries to Otisville’s third-graders.

“We loved seeing students enjoying looking up various words to find their meaning, part of speech and spellings,” said Principal Julia Downey. “We are grateful to our Kiwanis friends for visiting and showing our students how valuable a dictionary is, especially in this digital age.”

The dictionaries are a gift to each student to use at school and at home for years to come. According to The Dictionary Project, educators see third grade as the dividing line between learning to read and reading to learn, so we encourage our sponsors to give dictionaries each year to children in the third grade.
