Minisink Valley Kiwanis presents dictionaries to Intermediate School third-graders as part of national ‘Dictionary Project’ program

Students holding dictionariesMinisink Valley Kiwanis members recently visited Minisink Valley Intermediate School for their annual delivery of dictionaries to third-graders.

This is an annual gift of dictionaries part of Kiwanis’ national program called “The Dictionary Project.” The project’s goal is to assist all students in becoming good writers, active readers, creative thinkers, and resourceful learners by providing them with their own personal dictionary.

Kiwanis members presenting students with dictionariesAccording to The Dictionary Project, educators see third grade as the dividing line between learning to read and reading to learn, so we encourage our sponsors to give dictionaries each year to children in the third grade.

Principal Paul Dombal thanked Kiwanis members for their ongoing commitment to instill a love for reading, writing and even spelling to the school’s third-graders.
