New York State Board of Regents cancels January 2022 Regents exams

Attention Minisink Valley High School families:

The  New York State Board of Regents has cancelled all Regents exams scheduled for Jan. 25-28, 2022 due to COVID-19 concerns.

“New York set a daunting record last week with more COVID-19 cases reported in one day than ever before,” Education Commissioner Dr. Betty Rosa said in a statement today, Dec. 21.  “The January Regents Exams cannot be safely, equitably, and fairly administered across the state.”

According to the Board of Regents, under proposed emergency regulations, students who were planning to take one or more exams in January at the end of a course of study or a makeup program will be exempt from the requirement to pass a corresponding Regents exam to earn a diploma.

Student transcripts should list the name of the cancelled exam and a score of “E” for exempt, the Board of Regents said.

No decisions have been made regarding the June and August 2022 administrations of Regents exams or any other state assessment programs, according to media statement.
