Congratulations to Senior Brianna Foote, who won first place in the 50m and 100m freestyle events at the recent OCIAA championships! She also achieved a state cut time in the 50m and as a result, will complete in the Sectional Championships, which take place in two weeks! The state cut time is the requirement to attend the New York State Swimming Championships in that event. Brianna has already made the cut time in the 100m butterfly earlier in the season (she currently ranks #1 in the 100m butterfly!) and now adds the 50m freestyle to her event list!

Modified Volleyball Head Coach Kelsie Doller proudly says this volleyball season has been incredible to watch as each player has grown so much on and off the court! “Being a part of a modified team is all about learning the fundamentals and, just as importantly, building confidence in yourself,” she said. “It's been inspiring to see them embrace every challenge, growing stronger together with each practice and game. One thing I always remind them: go after the ball! In volleyball --- and in life ---- if you want something, you've got to be bold and take that initiative yourself. These girls are learning not just about the game, but about going after their goals and believing in their own abilities. Here's to a season of growth, grit, and going for it!”

Congratulations to Senior Charles Olsen, who was the Minisink Valley recipient of the annual John Bell Memorial Award, presented during Friday’s Varsity Football game against Port Jervis (which Minisink Valley won 28-14!) Maddox McCormick was the Port Jervis recipient. Coach Bell was a respected player for Port Jervis in the 1960s, a longtime coach and teacher at Minisink Valley and a friend throughout all of Section IX. In his memory the Minisink Valley and Port Jervis football programs established an award to present annually to a member of each school who has demonstrated the qualities that Coach Bell lived by: Dedication, sportsmanship, loyalty and school pride.

During the Oct. 10 Varsity home football game, Minisink’s youth football and cheer teams and their coaches were recognized! The little cheerleaders stood with Varsity Cheerleaders, welcoming the Varsity football team to the field, while youth football players followed. During halftime, the Mighty Mite Football and Youth Cheerleading teams performed many skills they learn each week at practice. These programs strive to offer students the opportunity to learn about teamwork, skill, and a love for the sport. It was a great evening, which included a BIG varsity win, and it was wonderful to have these young students be part of it! Thank you to everyone who played a role in its success!
