Three Minisink Valley staff members have been named recipients of the Mid-Hudson School Study Council’s 2025 Awards for Excellence.
Each year, the Newburgh-based organization honors those in the education field who display excellence in their work. Awards were presented to them and other honorees at an Oct. 29 gathering at The Barn at Villa Venezia in Middletown.
Steven Caldwell, Director of Education Data and Technology Integration
MHSSC Award of Excellence in Administration

“His role is unassuming but critical to district operations,” Superintendent Brian Monahan wrote in his nomination letter. “His incredible attention to detail, vast knowledge of data and technology, his incredible personality which allows him to work with all district administrators and his ability to explain any piece of data and its value and importance to our school district is beyond commendable. He’s among our most valuable employes.”
Board of Education President William Cooper echoed those comment in his nomination letter: “In many of the decision made by the Board of Education, we rely on the data provided to us by Mr. Caldwell. His technological proficiency is second to none and we know that all the information he shares with us is accurate, reliable and curated with great care. He understands the significance of his role to overall district operations and he is a great asset to us."
Anthony Muccari, High School Special Education Teacher
MHSSC Award for Excellence in Pupil Personnel Services

“As the Special Education Department Chair, Anthony plays in integral role in the success and functional of our Special Education Department,” Director of Pupil Personnel Services Jeffrey Finton wrote in his nomination letter. “Anthony, is collaboration with special education and building administrators, ensures that all students receive the accommodations needed. He works after school, stays late to supervise proctoring, and comes into the building throughout the summer, always ready to support students, the school and the district’s need. He is the colleague everyone turns to in times of need --- offering solutions, encouragement and a calm, steady hand.”
Principal Kenneth Hauck added in his nomination letter: “His personality is second to none and we can always count on him to have the knowledge and solution to solve complex problems. Minisink Valley is a great place because of people like Mr. Muccari. He is a wonderful example of what we want all our staff to do: Serve our students with pride and enthusiasm.”
Judy Moy, Transportation Department Bus Driver
MHSSC Award of Excellence in Staff Support

“I’ve seen Judy as a safe and professional driver, who work tirelessly to advocate for her students as well as for the Transportation Department,” wrote Transportation Director Dwayne Powell in his nomination letter. “Any time she is asked to make adjustments, suggestions or even cover a run at the last minute, she is willing to do whatever is needed to make sure our students are transported safely. Her role as a mentor, volunteer, or any other role she is tasked with, she rises above all expectations. Her cheerful smile every morning brings everyone to a laugh or smile.”
“Whether you need a driver, monitor, or a rescue pick up, Judy is there,” added Assistant Transportation Director Shawna Swaine in her nomination letter. “When you think, ‘What makes a great employee?’ follow Judy’s lead for the day. The children of the Minisink Valley District are her number one priority, always.”
