Morning misty rain didn't dampen the excitement as students across Minisink Valley — from first-time learners to graduating seniors — returned to school ready to begin a new year of learning, growth and new experiences today, Sept. 2.

The excitement of a new school year was evident throughout the district as the opening day of school is always a special milestone for students, families and district employees.

“Opening day represents a fresh start — new classrooms, new teachers, new goals and countless opportunities that await in the year ahead,” said Superintendent Brian Monahan. “For families, it's a day filled with excitement and anticipation as they watch their children take another step forward. For students, it is the beginning of new learning opportunities, new challenges, new discoveries and memories with friends that will become part of their school-year journey.”

Superintendent Monahan, along with members of the Board of Education, toured all buildings and saw the energy and excitement that opening day brings.

“We're so fortunate to have an incredibly talented and dedicated faculty and staff who bring their expertise, enthusiasm and genuine care for students to their work every day,” he added. “They are committed to creating classrooms and school communities where every student feels known, supported and encouraged to do their best. We're excited about the year ahead and all that our students will accomplish, and we look forward to celebrating their growth, their successes and the many moments that make a school year so meaningful.”
