PTOs support instruction and curriculum through unique enrichment programs

The district’s Parent Teacher Organizations (PTOs) play a very important role in supporting classroom instruction and the district’s academic curriculum  through the unique enrichment programs and social activities they provide.

A recent example was Intermediate School/Elementary School visit by Bill Robinson of Robinson’s Wildlife Lectures in Saugerties, who brought a hawk, turkey vulture, owl and some reptiles and spoke to engaged students about these creatures of the wild.

Mr. Robinson, the founder and past president of the New York State Falconry Association and the state’s Falconry Advisory Board, routinely gives talks to students of all grade levels about these creatures of the wild while also teaching field biology, ornithology and animal life courses at SUNY New Paltz.

Mr. Robinson and his birds and animals have appeared on The Today Show, Good Morning America, The David Letterman Show; and his trained falcons have appeared in many movies, most recently “The Royal Tenenbaums.”

His presentation supports the district’s elementary science curriculum and was made possible through the generosity of the ES/IS PTOs.
