Gov. Cuomo postpones school board elections and budget votes to at least June 1

Nominating petitions are currently available for individuals interested in serving on the Minisink Valley School District Board of Education.

Three seats will be up for election this year on Tuesday, May 19, which is the same day as the school budget vote.

Those interested in running for this important community role can pick up a petition between 8 a.m. and  4 p.m. from the district clerk at the district offices, on weekdays when school is in session.

In order to appear on the ballot, a candidate must return a petition with the signatures of 71 qualified district voters by 5 p.m. on April 20, to Deborah L. Roda, District Clerk.

NOTE:  Due to the extended school closure, copies of the petition are available here:

Candidates must be at least 18-years-old, qualified voters in the school district, and have resided in the district continuously for at least one year before the election.

Board members are volunteers and serve three-year terms.

The terms of the board members elected this year will begin on July 1, 2020 and expire on June 30, 2023.
