Congratulations to senior Lily Rodriguez and sophomore Kate O’Neill, who were recently recognized by the Section IX Soccer Coaches Association for their soccer achievements.

Lily was named to the All-Section and All-Class teams for Class AA; and Kate was named to All-Class team for Class AA.

Lily, who has been varsity captain for two years, has been a member of the varsity team since eighth-grade. This season she played center midfield, with 10 goals and 10 assists in the regular season.

“She is a true leader on and off the soccer field,” said Varsity Coach Theresa Uhelsky. “Those who have seen Lily play admire her foot skills and ability to keep possession of the soccer ball especially when double or triple marked. She is a playmaker from the midfield and has a sound understanding of the game with a strong shot from outside the 18.”

Kate, who also been a member of the varsity team since eighth-grade, is a outside left midfielder, with five goals and six assists in the regular season.

“She is a fast player with dynamic foot skills that can lead to a cross of the ball at crucial times in a game,” said Coach Ulhelsky. “She is a very humble player who will unselfishly pass the ball to another player so they can score, but she definitely has been part of many great scoring opportunities the team has had this season.”
