Jenn Doubrava Meet Jenn Doubrava, who is the assistant cook at the Middle School!

What’s your favorite aspect of your job?

Being able to work with the kids and also great co-workers and the love of cooking

Why do you believe in and support the work of the Minisink Valley School District and what it does for the community?

I started working at Minisink Valley Middle School in November 1998 when all three of my children attended Minisink.  My kids all graduated from Minisink Valley and were involved in sports and other community activities.   The boys played soccer, basketball and football and my daughter played soccer, was a cheerleader and a lacrosse player.  Although they were athletes, my husband and I always stressed education first.  We always found Minisink to be a tight, close knit community in which to raise a family.

How has this pandemic refocused the work you do every day?

The pandemic has greatly refocused our work to a broader spectrum, although it has decreased our contact with the kids and the staff.  We continue to work hard to serve the kids even though we may not see them as much, which has made us a little sad.

What do you want to say directly to the community about the importance of your work?

The process is different but vital to the community.  The pandemic has affected all our lives in one way or another.  We still have the responsibility to keep our Minisink children fed.  We all continue to work hard to do that.  There is much hard work behind the scene that many folks are unaware of.  We try to stay positive and make the best of these changing times.  We all look forward to the days to be back to “normal” when kids can go to school every day safely.
