Zack KohlerMeet Zack Kohler, Otisville Elementary custodian!

What’s your favorite aspect of your job?

My most favorite aspect of my job is knowing our faculty staff and students see how clean and safe the building is, and for the public to know this.  It makes me feel proud for people to know their children can be in a clean and safe place for learning. It helps the kids and the staff to stay healthy, and gives peace of mind to the parents  That’s pretty important all the time,  but particularly during this COVID-19 environment to have a clean and comfortable environment to learn.

Why do you believe in and support the work of the Minisink Valley School District and what it does for the community?

I am a graduate of Minisink so I have a connection. I believe in the work of the district because I know how committed Minisink employees are to giving students the best possible education. I see this happening when I’m at work. I see students learning and engaged and happy.  I see teachers and staff who are committed who their students’ education in a safe environment.

How has this pandemic refocused the work you do every day?

The way it’s changed, it’s made me more alert about what I’m doing because there’s so many guidelines and mandates. There are new precautions to follow, but those precautions will make for a safer environment. There are all kinds of things we’re doing that we’ve never done before, like misting rooms and cleaning plexiglass dividers.  We are committed to doing this every day, and properly

What do you want to say directly to the community about the importance of your work?

My coworkers and I get Otisville prepare the building to be used by students, faculty and staff every day. We take pride in our work. We make this building clean and safe for students, faculty and staff.  No one should worry about the cleanliness of this building. We prepare this building as if our own children are going here.
