Congratulations to Varsity Football Assistant Coach Scott Hendershot, who is the recipient of the Section IX Coaches Association’s “Assistant Coach of Year” award.

This is the first year that Section IX has acknowledged an assistant coach with an “Assistant Coach of the Year” award.  The honoree is selected by Section IX head coaches.

Coach Hendershot has been with the Varsity Football program since the 2006 season. He was the Special Teams Coordinator his first nine years and has been the Defensive Coordinator since 2016.

“Coach Hendershot is the most prepared coach in the Section and always has our defense schooled up and ready to go,” said Varsity Head Coach Kevin Gallagher. “He also brings the things outside of the Xs and Os that really make the difference. The kids like and respect Coach Hendershot and would run through a wall for him.  Coach Hendershot at the top of the list of most well- respected Coaches in Section IX on and off the field.”

Athletic Director Tim Bult echoed Coach Gallagher’s comments, adding: “”We are very proud of Coach Hendershot for receiving this recognition, as his work behind the scenes and on the field both during the football season and during the off-season is second to none.”
