“I’m really proud of the guys, they went out and wrestled tough,” said Head Coach Kevin Gallagher. “There was a little bit of pressure of us, coming in as the heavy favorite. It was a little nerve wracking. You know you’re pretty good, but you don’t know how good until you go out and perform. These guys really stepped up and did a great job. I’m really proud of them.  I’m really happy for them, too. They work hard and they deserve this.”

In Round 1, the Warriors defeated Section IV’s Horseheads 66-6. Round 2 was a bye round for the team.  In Round 3, the team beat Section V’s Pittsford 50-12, leading the way for the semi-final match.  In that match,  the team defeated Section VI’s Starpoint 55-7.

“We couldn’t be more proud of our Minisink Valley wrestling program tonight,” said Athletic Director Tim Bult.  “The hard work by these student-athletes, their coaches and the commitment and dedication from them and their families truly showed at the New York State dual meet championships.  As two-time champions, the Warriors are proud to keep the state championship here in Slate Hill — where it belongs.”
