We welcomed back nearly 4,700 students to the 2007-2008 school year today.  There were a few tears in the elementary school as kindergarten students said good-bye to parents and a few cheers in the high school as older students met up with friends they haven’t seen for ten weeks.

Teachers were busy going over curriculum guides and classroom procedures making sure students were well acquainted with what lies ahead.  Today is the beginning of ten months of exploration, learning, growing, and changing.  Today all things are possible and everyone is a star.  Today is public education at its finest.  (Pictured here is middle school teacher, Tom Rickard, explaining the schedule to his sixth grade students.)
