Minisink Valley school community:

As a reminder, the district has emergency days built into its calendar for the 2022-23 school year, which are usually used for inclement weather/snow days.

As per past practice, we closely monitor several reputable weather forecasting outlets in advance of the anticipated weather. We also consult with and rely on the good, sound professional judgment of our Transportation Department, local highway departments and local law enforcement when assessing current and forecasted road conditions. Safety is always our first concern.

This is a good time to be sure to review your plans for your child in the event of opening delays and early dismissals.  You need to be sure your child fully understands these plans as well. Similar to if we need to close school due to weather issues, this information would be communicated via our website, Facebook page, app notification and recorded calls to your home.

The district is legally required to have 180 instructional days each school year. In the event the district uses all allotted days for inclement weather/snow school closures, days will be pulled back to become instruction days.

If the district must use more than the allotted number of emergency days, make-up days will begin with April 3, April 4, and then April 5. These days are also listed on the student calendar. Please keep this in mind if you’re looking to make any travel plans.
