District Art Show to be held Tuesday, May 16 from 5 to 8 p.m.

Art show posterThe Minisink Valley District Art Show will take place Tuesday, May 16 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the high school cafeteria and auditorium.

The show will showcase the work of over 700 students representing the High School, Middle School, Otisville Elementary, the Intermediate School and the Elementary School.

“The arts foster creativity and problem solving,” said Art Show Director and High School Art Teacher Jenna McElroy. “Having the ability to think outside-of-the-box in today’s world is a gift that can set one apart, and pave the way for professional success, no matter the career path.”

The evening will include the Painted Furniture and Clocks Scholarship Auction along with video and multicultural presentations.

“For some, art class is a place where they can excel and express themselves, Mrs. McElroy added. “I’ve heard students say it is their safe space.  The ability to share the arts with our community, family and friends in a district wide show is incredible.  People can see what we create, have the ability to purchase one-of-a-kind pieces to raise money for student scholarships, and simply celebrate the arts as a community.  Elementary students can view middle school and high school work, and be amazed or inspired.  High school students nearing the end of their time at Minisink Valley can look at the elementary work and students, and realize just how far they’ve come.  This show is a labor of love by all of our district’s art teachers and art students. We’re all looking forward to it and hope to see you there.”
