Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Lacrosse team, who are the Section IX champions after beating Warwick in a 15-14 game on May 24 at James I. O’Neill High School!

Warwick was the #1 seed for this championship game and Minisink Valley was the #2 seed in the tournament.  Minisink Valley lost to Warwick last year in this same championship game.

The team held off a second half come back by Warwick in a downpour of rain to win.

“They played well and were confidant as we went into the game but knew it was going to be a tough game,” said Varsity Head Coach Chris Burger. “They were methodical and worked as a team in what was their best game of the season. The coaches are proud of what they accomplished and we have full faith in their play as we continue into the playoffs. The team supported each other and remained focused and confident.”
