High School Key Club seeks community support for Thanksgiving-themed food drive

Key Club students

The High School Key Club is inviting the community to support its annual food drive, which features a fun, new “class challenge” twist to it to support the Westtown Food Pantry.

The food collection drive runs through Thursday, Nov. 9.

This year, seniors, juniors, sophomores and freshmen are being challenged to collect and donate four particular types of Thanksgiving-centric foods to support the food pantry’s mission of helping people with food insecurity.

The class which collects the largest number of food items will be named “Food Drive Collection Champion.” Organizers are planning for this to become an annual event.  A trophy will be based the high school and will be inscribed annually with the winning class and year.

Food types by class are:

  • 9th grade/Freshmen: Canned corn
  • 10th-grade/Sophomores: Canned or jars of gravy
  • 11th grade/Juniors: Canned cranberry sauce
  • 12th grade/Seniors: Boxed stuffing

Students can drop off their donated items in Guidance Office.  Community members bring donated food items to the high school to be left at the greeter’s desk.
