High School students learn about ‘the business of sports’ from the New Jersey Devils

Members of the high school’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and Seth Johnson’s “Sports and Entertainment and Marketing” class recently attended a New Jersey Devils’ “Business of Sports” night at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.

New Jersey Devils executives speaking to studentsThe evening was organized specially for Minisink Valley by Mr. Johnson with executives from the New Jersey Devils organization.

Devils Director of Brand Strategy and Development Alex Iosiovich and Inside Sales Manager Kate Sullivan spoke to students about what it’s like to work in the sports industry and how they began their careers in this field. Students also had an opportunity to ask questions following their presentation.

New Jersey Devils hockey gameIn his role. Mr. Iosiovich is responsible for telling the story of the New Jersey Devils through strategic campaigns, activations, platforms, partnerships and content. Ms. Sullivan is responsible for the overall growth and development of entry level sales representatives for the New Jersey Devils.

“To cap off the evening, students were treated to an intense and hard-fought hockey game between the Winnipeg Jets and the New Jersey Devils,” said Mr. Johnson. “It was a fun and memorable experience for all.”
