Nine-year-old Jacob Thompson has terminal cancer. His last Christmas wish is to receive cards from around the world.

Moved by Jacob’s story and his modest request, several 6th-grade social studies classes (Corletta, E. Ferrier, K. Ferrier, and Olenick) dedicated #GivingTuesday to making cards and writing notes to Jacob.

“Students truly put their time and effort into creating caring and meaningful messages to help honor and celebrate Jacob’s life—and to bring a smile to his face,” Mrs. Olenick said.

This was the first time Minisink Valley Middle School observed the annual, global event of #GivingTuesday.
Sixth-grade Green Team classes also participated in Minisink Cares’ Holiday Wish Adoption Program, involving students, families and faculty.

News Update, Dec. 6: Mrs. Olenick was informed that Jacob passed away a week before her students prepared their cards. At the request of Jacob's family, new cards will be created and sent to service men and women.
