One small hand at a time, elementary school students in Mrs. Begle’s art class have been contributing their creativity to a beautiful mural with a very important message:  “With heart and helping hands, a child can accomplish anything.”

Mrs. Begle uses a dye-cut machine to produce the hand-cutouts, and students personalize them with their coloring before gluing them to the large wall mural.  Each hand is an expression of a child’s imagination and a reminder of their individuality and potential.

This project is but an example of the many creative ideas and activities conceived by art teacher Gail Begle. On Nov. 4, Mrs. Begle will be recognized by the Orange County Arts Council with the Arts in Education Award. She was nominated for the honor by the parent of a second grade student who often relates his excitement for Mrs. Begle’s art class and enjoys sharing his projects with his family and friends.

Each year the Orange County Art Awards recognizes individuals, organizations, and corporations which have made outstanding contributions to the arts in the county.

Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Begle.
