Kiwanis Club of Minisink Valley donates new dictionaries to all Intermediate School third-graders

third-graders with dictionaries

Thank you to members of the Kiwanis Club of Minisink Valley, who donated and delivered new dictionaries to all Intermediate School third-graders today, Nov. 30,  as part of the organization’s ongoing participation in The Dictionary Project,  a national program involving third-grade students.

The goal of non-profit Dictionary Project is to assist all students in becoming good writers, active readers, creative thinkers, and resourceful learners by providing them with their own personal dictionary.

“The dictionaries are a gift to each student to use at school and at home for years to come,” according to the organization. “Educators see third-grade as the dividing line between learning to read and reading to learn, so we encourage our sponsors to give dictionaries each year to children in the third- grade.”

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world one child and one community at a time. The Kiwanis Club of Minisink Valley has been serving  the local community through various service and fundraising projects since 1957.
