Minisink Valley school community:

As part of our ongoing commitment to keep you informed, we’re sharing that we dealt with a SnapChat post involving a possible threat at the middle school this morning, March 4.  Law enforcement quickly responded and at this time there is no threat of danger to the schools, students or the community. The investigation is currently ongoing.

Out of an abundance of caution, there was an additional law enforcement presence on the middle school campus this morning.  Leadership and security at all our buildings were quickly made aware of this social media incident for their awareness.

As a reminder, the district has a zero-tolerance for these types of behaviors. Students involved in these types of incidents will face the penalties as described in our Student Code of Conduct.

Please continue to have conversations with your student about the proper uses of social media and the consequences for inappropriate behaviors.  We also want to remind parents about the equal importance of monitoring their children’s use of social media, including the social media platforms they use and the content on those platforms. We are grateful when parents reach out so we can quickly address whatever concerns they have. If you are aware of something, please tell us.

Lastly, we again thank our law enforcement partners for their continued quick response to our district, when called upon, to ensure the safety of everyone in all our buildings.

Thank you.
