Minisink Valley Elementary School will hold its annual Incoming Kindergarten Night on Tuesday, March 10 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the school’s gym.
During the evening, incoming Kindergarten parents will have the opportunity to meet with administrators for a brief overview of the Kindergarten program. Parents and children will also be able to visit different classrooms where activities will be setup for the children.
Please note: children must be age 5 on or before Dec. 1, 2020 in order to be registered.
Service providers will be present to discuss special education services and speech, physical therapy and occupational therapy services.
Registration packets can be picked up at that time and a scheduled time for screening will be given.
The screening will be administered by Minisink Valley faculty members covering the areas of concept, language and motor development.
Kindergarten screening dates are March 16, 17, 18, 19 with a snow date of March 20.
Additionally, children and parents will be able to take a short school bus ride around the school campus.
In order to register, parents/guardians must bring the child’s original birth certificate; proof of residency showing physical address (i.e.: utility/cable/telephone/gas/oil bill). Tax bills are not acceptable. This documentation is necessary even if other children already attend Minisink Valley schools.
Other required documents are: the child’s immunization record from a health care provider; proof of parent identification (i.e. driver’s license or other photo ID); and custody papers or custodial affidavit if applicable.
The entire registration process may take between one and two hours.
Parents should contact the elementary school office at 355-5273 if they have not received a letter with a registration time so they can be scheduled.
NOTE: Information on Otisville Elementary’s Kindergarten registration and screening will be posted in the beginning of April.
