National Honor Society students honor local veterans at annual Veterans Dinner

veterans dinner at high schoolThe high school’s National Honor Society students recently brought back their tradition of hosting an annual homemade dinner to honor local veterans, with members of four local veterans posts attending.

All NHS students contributed by shopping, baking, cooking and serving the veterans at the dinner.

Juniors Shannon Cahill and Sophia Solimando played a beautiful ‘taps’ as we retired our colors.”

Mrs. Lombardo stressed the highlight and most enjoyed aspect of the evening was the time that the students spent with the veterans, sitting and eating with them.

“The conversations brought together two generations, connected by their pride and loyalty to our country,” she added. “While the meal was delicious, nearly every veteran commented how wonderful it was to spend time with the students and see a generation with such great character and commitment to their community.”
