Ashley Beairsto, Debbie Orrio, Jackie Lockett and Jenn McElroy’s sixth-grade classes marked Veterans Day by welcoming American Legion George Smith Post 1607 from Unionville to the Middle School as part of their studies which allowed them to learn more about this day from those who served in the military.

Becky Olah, a former middle school aide and current member of Post 1607’s Ladies Auxiliary, explained what Veterans Day is and shared information with students about the different wars the United States has fought in over the years. Each veteran shared their stories and answered questions students had.

Students decided to share their appreciation for all of the men and women who have served the nation by writing thank you letters to who participated in their meeting.
