NYSED announces a 2021-22 summary guidance document is being developed to help school districts prepare for school reopening

Minisink Valley logoMinisink Valley school community:

To follow-up on Superintendent Monahan’s Aug. 9 communication on the status of plans for the Sept. 1 reopening of school, we’re sharing an Aug. 10 memo from New York State Education Department (NYSED) Commissioner Dr. Betty Rosa to all school districts.

Dr. Rosa’s correspondence

In this memo, Dr. Rosa said a summary guidance document is being developed to aid schools and districts as they prepare for the 2021-22 school year.

Dr. Rosa noted this document will be based on Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines and guidance from the American Academy of Pediatrics. This is  necessary in light of the continued absence of health-related school opening direction  and assistance from the Governor’s Office and the State Department of Health, the memo said.

In her memo, she also stressed the overall goal for the 2021-22 school year is to maximize in-person teaching and learning, be responsive to student needs, and keep students and staff  healthy and safe.

Thank you for your attention to this useful information.
