LONGTIME BOARD OF EDUCATION MEMBER PAUL RICKARD, SR. PASSES AWAY

Mr. Paul Rickard, Sr., a longtime member of Minisink Valley’s Board of Education, passed away on Thursday, March 30, at New York University Hospital.

A district resident for the past 31 years, Mr. Rickard served on our Board since July of 2007.  In his leadership capacity, he shouldered the responsibility of responding to the needs of our community and overseeing the education of Minisink Valley’s youth.

A mathematics teacher and a faculty member at SUNY Orange for 36 years, Mr. Rickard served as chair of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. He also devoted 25 years to coaching the men’s basketball team, and 32 years coaching the golf team. He helped secure several regional and conference championships, and was inducted into the SUNY Orange Hall of Fame in 2015.

An active and generous member of the community, Mr. Rickard was a devout member of the Parish Council of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Otisville, and served on the Parish Council.

Mr. Rickard touched and changed the lives of many and he will be greatly missed. The Board of Education, administration, faculty and staff, and the entire school community, present their deepest condolences to Mr. Rickard’s family and close friends.
