Otisville's four 5th grade classes celebrated their Moving Up to the middle school in the school’s gym on June 11.

Cheering for their growth and accomplishments were family members, faculty, staff, and school and district administrators.

School Principal Vincent Biele offered words of praise and appreciation for the 97 graduating students. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Victoria Melton, Recycling Club president. Jenna Friedle, Kiwanis K-Kids president, delivered the farewell speech on behalf of her graduating class.

She thanked the community for its generous support of all giving campaigns; the PTO for unique social and educational opportunities; the school administration for the return of field trips and after school enrichment programs; and the art and music departments, as well as the Drama Club for bringing a little Broadway to Otisville.

Teachers Mrs. Graziano, Mrs. Hagerty, Mrs. Louey and Mrs. Mynders introduced each of their students, and Mr. Biele and Mrs. Downey presented moving-up certificates.

A multi-media presentation put together by Mrs. Parker was a real crowd-pleaser. It featured each individual student on video, and a year's worth of picture-perfect moments.

The ceremony culminated with the four classes singing together—"Gonna Rise up Singin” and "What a wonderful World"—led by Mrs. Hughes.

CONGRATULATIONS Otisville 5th Graders! We wish you a great new adventure at Minisink Valley Middle School.
